Quality in Action Recap

The closing session of the Quality in Action conference of Quality Matters wrapped up the sessions and shared key takeaways. Several speakers shared their most memorable ideas from the day. One person talked about the changing definitions of “face-to-face” and the importance of learning about what works and pedagogy. They also talked about staggering the design load for instructional designers and the continuous maintenance of courses. For the session about the “Design challenge,” they noted that you are only competing with yourself. All program committee members shared their thoughts, which was a nice way to wrap up the day-long conference. The recap also considered ways to humanize online learning. In breakout rooms, participants completed Google Slides with “Aha! Moments!” One mentioned fake Learning Objectives (LOs); others spoke about having students create their learner profiles. It was useful to learn what participants took away from the sessions and why it was meaningful.
