Tonight I continued watching the QM Connect Conference session “The Future of AI: Shaping the Next Generation of Education.” The panelists included Roxana Medieros, Megan Van Buskirk, Jason Neiffer, Rob Gibson, and Siobahn Grady. Gibson spoke about including a “broad curriculum swath” in the committee for AI guidance needed on campuses. Grady spoke about guidance and committees at the UNC system level. Neiffer noted that AI is improving and can contribute resources. Neiffer explained how AI will change the way we teach and learn and improve personalization. Gibson talked about how organizations will likely create internal chat bots to control faculty content. Gibson emphasized equity and access: requiring use of tool when there are paid versions. During the question and answer session, the panelists emphasized meeting students and supporting them. Neiffer stressed learning and where learning takes place. Van Buskirk expressed how AI will help course designers and instructors improve courses and learning experiences.
