The “Nanopore Sequencing Ultra Rich Data for Cancer Research” webinar featured Sayonika Mohanta, the Market Segment Manager for Methylation with Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT). Mohanta began by emphasizing that cancer research requires multimodal approaches. The example they presented was the use of WGS of cell-free or circulating tumor DNA combined with proteomics and methylation. They explained that methylation information can be used for early detection. The combination of methylation, along with other approaches, can be used to improve detection and management. They then described how adaptive sampling and ONT can be used to analyze samples. The pipeline includes a bioinformatics tool ONT developed called NanoCliD. Mohanta shared results and examples. Mohanta shared a couple of clinical cases to highlight what the workflow can do.
