Tonight I watched another video from the Nanopore Learning course on Human Genome Sequencing and Analysis. This session was an introduction to real-time analysis. Sandra Guerra, a member of the Technical Services Specialist, introduced the tools for real-time data analysis. Guerra described the process of Nanopore DNA/RNA sequencing. They noted that Nanopore technologies and devices have been used for on-site portable genome sequencers. On-demand sequencing allows the user to make decisions in real-time. MinKNOW is the primary program for data analysis and basecalling. Users can adjust several parameters and even hae MinKNOW notify users reaching a Gbase amount. EPI2ME provides-real time analysis. EPI2ME workflows include metagenomics, antimicrobial resistance. The 16S kit allows users to amplify and sequence with the option for real-time analysis. We are trying this approach in class and shared the output link.
