CUNY Teacher Education OER Hub

“Teacher Educators as OER Storytellers” was the title of the ten-minute Open Ed 2021 session. Niki Fayne is the Program Director at CUNY OER hub. Fayne described the support from Lehman College. Naliza Sadik, the Teaching and Learning Manager at Lehman College, CUNY described the hub for teaching and learning, housed in the CUNY OER Commons. The hub has customizable templates. Their Teacher Education OER Hub is a beautiful website described by Anthony Wheeler, a Ph.D. student at CUNY. The website includes interviews with instructors and librarians and their OER work. Wheeler is one of the web developers. The OER in Teacher Ed tab has lessons learned and advice. The video clip that was shared had great advice about how to select OER. The additional resources on the hub and the last Contact page have information for new OER users, contributors, and potential reviewers for the site. Wendy Barrales shared their experience as a graduate student exploring OER. Barrales emphasized how easy it is to contribute to the site. Zulyvette Muniz is a media specialist and shared how they created videos that tell the story of instructors in the OER journey. Sadik ended by inviting contributors and requesting feedback on the site. I love how they tied into an existing platform and developed new resources that focused on storytelling and human connections. In under eight minutes, several members of the team shared their stories and contributions to the project.
