“Catch-up If you Can | Preventing Learning Loss” is the title of the Quality Matters “Quality in Action” April 2022 conference session I watched tonight. Bill Krasner from PlayPosit spoke about using recorded content and making it more engaging. Krasner spoke about how PlayPosit started with K-12 as a product to increase engagement. They spoke about using technology to engage students and support those struggling with online learning. Krasner is an MBA student and explained scaffolding and using the playlist function in an LMS. A demonstration of a PlayPosit bulb was useful in identifying how this tool provides several ways to interact with the content. One strategy Krasner described was using a video and interaction: “switching it up.” Krasner urged the audience to think about interaction. They emphasized stopping to reflect, and this can be done with PlayPosit bulbs. How will you use the LMS or technology to organize the materials? Krasner shared some examples. The University of Arizona used PlayPosit to flip the syllabus and include interaction. Their interactive syllabus has “forced” interaction, and students get two attempts. Some of the questions were free-response. The PlayPosit interactive syllabus is available on the web. This was a shorter session, yet it included some examples of PlayPosit use I had not considered.
