Samantha Ahern recorded a 20-minute session for the Open Ed 2021 conference. As an Open practitioner, Ahern participated in the Mozilla Open Leaders program and became a mentor for OE4BW. Ahem has experimented with H5P and “produced some guidance.” Sushumna Rao is the founder of h5pcatalogue.in and an ed-tech trainer. Rao developed and implemented an online course to promote quality education for all (SDG 4) and lifelong learning. The course is titled “Creating H5P – Interactive Content in Moodle.” I am curious about taking this course. It is fifteen hours long. Rao designed the course with use cases providing examples and describing their pedagogical strengths. If new content is developed, Rao encouraged participants in the course to share their H5P. Rao used the UK-based UCL learning designer tool to design content and interactions. The course assessment has multiple choice quizzes, peer review, and a final project. A learner can earn a badge and certificate if all work and assessments are completed. Rao demonstrated the course and how it is designed using H5P interactive books and elements. An H5P “periodic table” of H5P Content Types was demonstrated. I love it, as it provides a clear view of the different tools and their features. The interactive H5P content has knowledge-check questions, videos, and hot spots. Rao described the final project and expectations for work that synthesizes the knowledge and evaluates H5P activities. Rao is encouraging educators and designers to share H5P lessons and resources on their website. This site may have resources or provide ideas for us to update content for the metagenomics course using H5P, for example.
